Laura Tjombonde Appointed Executive Director in Windhoek |
One Economy Foundation names new leadership following executive director appointment |

A new chapter is opening at one of Namibia's most prominent youth-focused organisations.
One Economy Foundation has confirmed the executive director appointment of Laura Tjombonde, who steps into the role effective 1 January 2027.
The announcement signals a deliberate push toward experienced, purpose-driven leadership at a time when youth empowerment across Namibia demands fresh momentum.
Tjombonde carries more than a decade of senior executive experience in the country's public sector, with grounding in governance, operational transformation, and stakeholder engagement.
Her career arc is as distinctive as it is wide - she began as a professional nurse, anchoring her leadership philosophy in service and human dignity before rising through some of Namibia's most consequential institutions.
She held executive roles at the Business and Intellectual Property Authority and the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, before leading the Namibia Institute of Pathology as Chief Executive.
Her credentials span a nursing diploma, a Bachelor of Laws, a Master's in Law and Business, a postgraduate qualification in company direction, and certification as an executive coach.
Few leaders in Windhoek arrive with such a layered blend of frontline care, legal grounding, and boardroom authority.
She succeeds Pauline Kahupi, whose tenure concludes on 31 December and whose mark on the organisation runs deep.
Kahupi steered the foundation through a turbulent period of shifting funding, strengthened programmes, modernised systems, and built the resilience that now carries the organisation into a stable 2027.
That steadiness is no small inheritance - it is the platform from which Tjombonde can build.
The foundation currently runs 21 programmes across youth development, education, entrepreneurship, and reproductive health, and recently raised close to five million Namibian dollars at its annual fundraising soirée in Windhoek.
Tjombonde steps in as Namibia's youth unemployment challenge remains pressing and community-rooted leadership has never mattered more.
Her stated mission is clear - to serve and empower young Namibians to lead transformation and unlock futures without limits.
For an organisation built on that exact promise, the appointment feels like more than timing. |
