Namibia Women's Cricket Team Heads to Uganda for Victoria T20 Series |
The Capricorn Eagles cricket squad eye strong performances in the Women's Victoria T20 Series against Uganda, Rwanda, and the USA |

The Namibia women's cricket team is riding a wave of momentum as the Capricorn Eagles cricket squad departs for Uganda to compete in the Women's Victoria T20 Series against three senior international sides.
The Eagles are arriving in confident form, following a commanding 4-2 series victory over Ireland Under-19 - a campaign that doubled as a talent showcase, with several first-time call-ups proving they belong at the top level.
Mekalaye Mwatile was the dominant force with the bat, scoring 255 runs at a staggering average of 112.50 - a performance that set the tone for the entire series.
Captain Sune Wittmann chipped in with 95 runs, while Kayleen Green, Arrasta Diergaardt, and Wilka Mwatile all made meaningful contributions to reinforce the squad's batting depth.
With the ball, Mekelaye Mwatile and Victoria Hamunyela each claimed five wickets, and Wilka Mwatile added four more - a combined effort that highlighted just how dangerous this squad can be on both sides of the game.
Young debutants Sarafia Handiba and Jani-Mari van Heerden also made their mark with the ball, hinting at a talent pipeline that is quickly maturing into senior-grade firepower.
The Women's Victoria T20 Series, however, is a sharply different proposition.
Namibia will face Uganda, Rwanda, and the United States - all full senior sides, with the ICC global rankings separating the four teams by just seven spots.
Every game carries real ranking weight, and every result feeds into Namibia's broader push toward the upcoming Emerging Trophy.
Assistant coach Tangeni Lungameni will steer the technical side of the operation in the opening fixtures before head coach Gerhard Lötter joins the group mid-series - a structure the squad has embraced with maturity.
Sponsorship from the Capricorn Group continues to underpin both the senior and Under-19 programs, a commitment that reflects the growing ambition behind Namibia women's cricket as a whole.
The preparation is done, the belief is real, and the Women's Victoria T20 Series is where this Eagles squad intends to prove it. |
