Namibian Cyber Security Summit Coming to Windhoek |
A practical cyber defense summit exploring AI governance, vulnerability management, and security gaps |

Windhoek is set to become the centre of a critical regional conversation as the Namibian Cyber Security Summit prepares to open its doors on 13 October 2026.
Hosted at The Weinberg Hotel in Klein Windhoek, the event runs from 08:00 to 15:00 and is themed Mind the Gaps: AI, Governance and Cyber Defense.
The timing could not be more pressing.
Recent figures confirm that Namibia recorded over 513,000 cyber vulnerabilities and more than 161,500 cyber events between April and June 2026 alone - a surge of nearly 57% compared to the previous quarter.
That is not a number to scroll past.
For many organisations operating across the country, the real danger is not always the tools they lack - it is the blind spots between the tools they already have.
The cyber defense summit in Windhoek is built precisely around that uncomfortable truth.
The programme uses the Cyber Defense Matrix as a practical lens, mapping security functions to the assets organisations need to protect and exposing where existing defences fall short.
Technology alone, it turns out, is no longer enough.
Detection, response, and recovery increasingly hinge on the behaviour of people and the strength of internal processes - factors that no software patch can fully address.
Then there is the AI question, which is reshaping the threat landscape faster than most governance frameworks can keep pace.
Employees across industries are already using AI tools, often well ahead of any formal policy or oversight structure.
The summit will examine how organisations can establish where AI is already embedded in their operations, how vulnerability management intersects with governance, and what agentic defence looks like as machines begin handling early-stage threat triage before human analysts step in.
Sessions will also address the enduring role of human behaviour in cyber risk - a factor that remains stubbornly persistent regardless of how sophisticated the surrounding technology becomes.
Alliance partners Netskope, Mimecast, and CrowdStrike will join the hosting organisations to bring layered, practical perspectives on building cyber resilience without losing sight of operational realities on the ground.
The event is aimed at leaders carrying responsibility for technology, security, governance, risk, and business operations who want a sharper, more honest picture of where their defences actually stand.
Registration and networking open at 08:00, with formal sessions running through the morning and a networking lunch from 12:00.
Attendees will also be in the running for a lucky draw prize of an iPad.
As Namibia's digital economy expands and cyber incidents continue to climb, the cyber security summit Windhoek represents one of the most relevant gatherings on the local business calendar this year. |

October 13 is a Tuesday right. Hope people actually show up and do not cancel last minute
the blind spots between existing tools point hit close to home
Netskope is solid on cloud security. Good partner to have at this
hope they record the sessions for people who cannot attend in person
161 500 cyber events in three months. What are we doing
employees using AI without any policy is literally happening at my office right now
Klein Windhoek is easy to get to at least. Parking should be fine
good that they are talking about recovery not just prevention
governance frameworks really are miles behind where AI is right now
networking lunch at 12 is always the best part honestly
one day event is quite short for all these topics
nice that Mimecast is there. They know their stuff on email threats
the Cyber Defense Matrix sounds useful. Never heard of it before
agentic defence is still so new. Curious how they will explain it to non technical people
my company has no cyber policy at all so this is relevant
human behaviour being called out as the weak link again. Accurate
the iPad lucky draw is a nice touch haha
wish more events like this happened in other towns too not just Windhoek
57% increase in one quarter alone is wild
CrowdStrike is involved? Interesting choice after last year
the AI governance part is what I want to hear more about
hope they make room for smaller businesses not just the big corporates
Weinberg is a nice venue for this kind of event
513 000 vulnerabilities in one quarter?? That is scary stuff
finally something like this happening in Windhoek
